The government has hired over 3,000 vaccinators and has been coordinating with the private sector to ensure a smooth inoculation rollout amid the arrival of millions of doses in the coming months.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the government has allocated P400 million for the hiring of vaccinators and another funding for the renewal of their contract which is set to expire in June.
The national government also coordinated with the private sector to establish more vaccination sites in preparation for the inoculation of those under Priority Lists A4 and A5, or essential workers and indigent population.
“Yung A4 natin – A4.1 to A4.17, lahat ‘yan. So kahapon nagkaroon na ng paunang pag-uusap ukol dito kung paano natin ma-streamline,” DOH USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a briefing on May 21.
“About A5, these are the indigent population at alam po natin na medyo challenge din para sa ating gobyerno kung paano natin properly to identify these indigent population,” she added.
The country currently has a seven-day moving average of 108,000 vaccinees per day. This has yet to meet the daily 500,000 vaccination target.
Local government units were urged to establish walk-in lanes for individuals included in the quick substitution list to prevent crowding.
As millions of doses start to arrive, experts are urging the public to get vaccinated as protection against COVID-19 severe symptoms and variants.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) expressed willingness to lend its 200 floating assets of the PNP Maritime Group and four helicopters of Special Action Force (SAF). –Report from Mark Fetalco/AG-rir
