Streamlining government processes to benefit the citizenry has always been a hallmark of efficient leadership and a progressive nation, ensuring that barriers hindering development are reduced to a minimum.
Congress leaders have presented the signed Republic Act No. 12231, or the Government Optimization Act, to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, a symbolic gesture of lawmakers working in unison with the country’s top government official to pave the way for an orderly delivery of services to the public.
Shortly before embarking on a five-day state visit to India, President Marcos inked this legislation, which was ratified by the Congress on June 4.
RA 12231 provides for strengthening, merging, or abolishing agencies and functions deemed redundant or misaligned, while protecting the welfare of civil servants.
The law grants the President the authority to reorganize the executive branch by consolidating, strengthening, or eliminating redundant agencies and functions.
Also present at the event were Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Senate President Francis Escudero, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senators Sherwin Gatchalian, Joel Villanueva, and Alan Peter Cayetano, Special Assistant to the President Antonio Ernesto Lagdameo Jr., Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman, and Undersecretary and Presidential Legislative Liaison Office (PLLO) head Adrian Carlos Bersamin.
