Gov’t pre-SONA roadshow kicks off in Caraga

The first installment of pre-State of the Nation Address (pre-SONA) roadshow aiming to present to the public the government’s programs and accomplishments for the past six years was launched in Caraga Region on April 15.

This initiative was led by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO), the Office of the Cabinet Secretary, and the Office of the Executive Secretary.

“Para makakakuha din tayo ng feedback kung ano ‘yung kailangan nating gawin sa remaining term ni Pangulong Duterte [This also aims to gather feedback on what else needs to be done in the remainder of President Duterte’s term],” Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said.

At the event, Nograles also shared the region’s accomplishments in addressing hunger and poverty, which include the establishment of 24 farmer organizations that earned P81 million.

The first leg of the pre-SONA roadshow was attended by barangay officials, Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons, and government personnel.

“Information is power and information empowers. The power of information, as of this time sa ating [in our] situation with the pandemic, is necessary and very vital,” PhilHealth Caraga Information Officer Zandro Etic said.

“I hope po na itong ganitong activity hindi lang dito sa atin mangyari, kundi pati na din sa ibang municipalities [I hope this kind of activity will also be held in other municipalities],” Barangay J. P. Rizal, Butuan City Sangguniang Kabataan Chairperson Judeben Duro said.  – Report from Doreen Marielle Rosales/PIA Caraga/AG-jlo
