Gov’t workers to get year-end bonus starting Nov. 15

MANILA — State workers can expect to receive their year-end bonus starting November 15, or a day after for those who are based in areas where holiday has been declared in line with the Association of Southeast Asian (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings.

“All qualified government workers will receive their bonus tax free. That is equivalent to one-month basic salary and a cash gift of PHP5,000,” Budget and Management Secretary Benjamin Diokno said in a briefing Wednesday.

The Budget chief said PHP32.8 billion has been allocated under the 2017 national budget for the 13th month pay of government workers while PHP6.9 billion was alloted for the additional PHP5,000 cash gift.

He said the disbursement was in line with the guidelines of Budget Circular 2016-04.

The said circular states that the bonus will be given to “civilian personnel whether regular, contractual, or casual in nature, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, now existing or hereafter created in the Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches, the Constitutional Commissions and other Constitutional Offices, SUCs, and GOCCs covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS) under RA No. 6758, as amended by Senate and House of Representatives Joint Resolutions No. 1, series of 1994 and No. 4, series of 2009.”

Also covered that employees from “LGUs (local government units); and 3.2 Military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines under the Department of National Defense and uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Philippine Coast Guard of the Department of Transportation and Communications; and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.” (PNA)
