A 24-year-old computer science student of the De La Salle University (DLSU) Dasmariñas was found dead inside her dormitory on Tuesday, March 28.

The victim was identified as Queen Leanne Daguinsin, a tenant at Rolisa Dormitory in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

Based on the autopsy report, the victim sustained 14 stab wounds in different parts of her body with indication of defensive wounds.

The report, however, revealed there was no indication of rape.

CCTV footage showed that the male suspect gained entry to the dormitory by climbing onto the roof of the adjacent Aterrado Dormitory and transferred to the victims dormitory where he gained access to the victim’s room through its window.

Some of the victim’s belongings were also robbed by the suspect.

Heightened security at DLSU Dasmariñas

The DLSU Dasmariñas on Wednesday, March 29 said it will heighten police visibility inside and near the campus, following the death of Daguinsin.

The university added they will collaborate with the local government unit (LGU) to conduct thorough inspection of dormitories near the campus.

“In the next few weeks, in coordination with the LGU, safety marshals from the schools will be deployed off-campus in the vicinity of private dorms and establishments frequented by students,” the university stated.

Moreover, the university said it will work closely with the victim’s family and authorities in seeking justice.

The DLSU Dasmariñas further reminded the students to take measures to keep safe while outside the campus and their house.

“Set your gadgets to readily respond to emergencies, inform trusted persons of your location, and as much as possible, be with trusted friends and classmates while the investigation of the incident is ongoing,” the university added. – Janine Dumaguin/With reports from Ryan Lesigues/CF
