Grenade blast leaves 4 dead at bar in west Burundi

UJUMBURA – At least four persons were killed and four others injured in a grenade explosion that happened on Tuesday evening in a bar in the village of Vugizo in Mutimbuzi district in west Burundi, a local administration official told Xinhua on Wednesday (Sept. 29).

“People who were sharing drinks in a bar quarreled and one of them went to his house not far from the bar and brought a grenade. It exploded in his hands, killing himself and three others who were seated with him,” Simeon Butoyi, administrator of Mutimbuzi district said.

According to him, four persons were injured during the explosion that happened around 7:20 p.m. local time and were rushed to hospital.

Butoyi urged residents who illegally own weapons to hand over them to security forces.
