Cognizant of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to extend every available financial relief to help Filipinos cope with inflationary pressures and omnipresent challenges, GSIS continues to make significant leaps under Balik Ginhawa 2.
In the agency’s latest report published on Tuesday, the expanded implementation of the loan moratorium refund program has refunded P9.06 billion to over 500,000 members and pensioners in 24 days.
Together with the refunds released under the original Balik Ginhawa, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has now returned more than P18 billion in loan amortizations to qualified members and pensioners.
The Balik Ginhawa Program is an initiative of the state social insurance firm that enables qualified members and pensioners to receive refunds of eligible loan amortizations from Dec. 2025-May 2026.
These refunds would provide them with additional financial headroom while enabling them to continue paying their loans under the original terms.
To ensure that qualified borrowers receive their full benefit, GSIS has introduced a new feature in the GSIS Touch mobile application that enables members and pensioners who received less than their expected refund to check whether they still have a remaining refundable amount and immediately apply for it.
GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said in a statement, “Through this feature, we are making sure that those who are still entitled to a refundable amount can easily verify their eligibility and receive the remaining benefit due them.”
Meanwhile, GSIS reminded members and pensioners that availment of Balik Ginhawa remains voluntary. Refund proceeds are credited exclusively to the member’s designated GSIS bank account, not to the payroll account.
