The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) invites artists across the country to participate in the 2023 GSIS National Art Competition.

“We want to showcase the creativity and passion of our Filipino artists and provide opportunities for them to be recognized in the local and international scene,” GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso said.

The competition is now in its 18th year and is one of the country’s largest and longest-running art competitions.

Filipino artists aged 18 (as of May 3) can join the competition.

Contestants may submit in one of the categories, representational, abstract, and sculpture entries are allowed.

This year’s contest theme is an open theme, which gives artists the freedom to create their artworks.

Entries must be original and created in 2023 and have not been exhibited, revised, or awarded a prize in previous competitions.

Submission period is based on priority schedule from May 2 to 6, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. only. A-F surnamed artists must submit their entries on May 2; G-L, May 3; M-Q, May 4; and R-Z, May 5. Group courier submission is May 6.

The top three winners in each category will receive P300,000, P200,000, and P100,000, respectively, while five honorable per category will receive P25,000.

The GSIS website will post the finalists on May 19 and the winners on June 16, while the winning works will be displayed in the GSIS Museo ng Sining in Pasay. – gb
