GSIS shortens processing of retirement, vehicle claims, life insurance, service loans

TAYABAS CITY, Quezon, Sept. 19 (PIA) — Government Service Insurance System Chairman Francisco Duque announced in a media briefing in this city on September 19 that beginning this year, GSIS members and pensioners can expect a shorter processing time for retirement, motor vehicle claims, life insurance, and service loans.

“Retirement and life insurance claims are now being processed no more than 30 days while motor vehicle claims in 40 days (from 45 days) and service loans, including conso loan or salary loan, within three days,” Duque said.

Meanwhile, the chairman admitted that GSIS needs further improvement in its collection efforts and is working closely with the Department of Education to increase DepEd’s 86 percent collection efficiency posted in 2016.

“We hope to launch within the year, an initial program for DepEd that will enhance the financial capacity of their personnel, who account for more than half of GSIS’s membership base,” he added.

Moreover, the GSIS has deployed a total of 15 kiosks in the province of Quezon. Eight are in local government units, two in the city government offices, two in DepEd’s division offices, and three in the GSIS Lucena branch office where members may apply for their loans and maturity benefits.

Prior to the briefing, GSIS also conducted a stakeholders’ dialogue which was attended by more than 400 GSIS members and pensioners under the coverage of GSIS Lucena branch.

This aims to further disseminate the new programs & services of GSIS to its members.
