Guadalupe-BGC monorail eyed

MANILA — Tycoon Andrew Tan’s Infracorp Development, Inc. has submitted an unsolicited proposal to the government to build a monorail connecting MRT Guadalupe station and Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) Wednesday, Alliance Global Group, Inc. (AGI) said it created Infracorp, a new subsidiary that will handle infrastructure projects.

AGI added Infracorp aims to join the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects of the Duterte administration.

In addition to the ongoing and planned infrastructure projects of the government, the Skytrain will be a two-kilometer monorail that aims to carry 60,000 to 100,000 daily passengers commuting between Guadalupe in Makati City and BGC in Taguig City, cutting travel time to five minutes.

Infracorp eyes the stations near MRT Guadalupe and in Uptown Bonifacio, AGI’s township development in BGC.

AGI said the proposed monorail project will be at no cost to the government.

“Given the country’s strong and stable economy, we see a huge opportunity to invest in infrastructure. We are excited to participate and optimistic about the government’s aggressive push for infrastructure developments,” AGI Executive Director Kevin Tan said.

“Funding of the project will be internally-generated as part of AGI’s existing CAPEX program. We cannot disclose the exact amount of the investment yet until the government gives us the gosignal to proceed. We will follow the rightful process of this exercise,” added Tan who is also the appointed president of Infracorp.

Once the government approved Infracorp’s unsolicited proposal, the construction of Skytrain will take three years.

The company said Skytrain can also be interconnected to the planned subway project passing through BGC.

The AGI’s unit will also look into other infrastructure projects in Metro Manila and other parts of the country. (Kris Crismundo/PNA)
