MANILA – Malacañang on Saturday thanked Filipinos who continue to appreciate President Rodrigo Duterte’s work performance amid the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
The private pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS), in its Sept. 12 to 16 survey, found that 67% of 1,200 adult Filipinos are satisfied with Duterte’s performance.
Only 15% expressed dissatisfaction while 11% were ambivalent.
Results of the survey gave Duterte a net satisfaction score of “very good” +52, down by 10 points from June 2021’s “very good” +62 and the lowest since June 2018’s “good” +45, the SWS said.
“We thank our people for giving the President a consistent ‘very good’ rating, as reflected in the First (May 2021), Second (June 2021) and Third (September 2021) Quarter 2021 surveys of SWS,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press statement.
Roque said the SWS poll results prove that many Filipinos continue to trust and appreciate Duterte.
“Indeed, this is a clear validation that public confidence remains high on the ability and competence of the Chief Executive to lead the nation amid the current health crisis brought by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
Roque assured the public that Duterte and his administration would continue to do their best to give Filipinos a comfortable life.
He added that Duterte, with the help of his Cabinet, would exhaust all efforts to help Filipinos recover from the impact of the COVID-19 health crisis.
“With our people united behind the President and the administration, PRRD, along with the members of his Cabinet, will continue to improve the lives of Filipinos that will be felt beyond 2022, especially as we build back a better, post-COVID-19 economy,” Roque said.
According to the SWS survey, Duterte’s net satisfaction rating stayed “excellent” in Mindanao (+76) and was “very good” in Balance Luzon and the Visayas (+44 each).
Duterte also obtained a “very good” net satisfaction in rural areas (+55); among men (+51) and women (+53); among the age groups 25 to 34 (+56), 35 to 44 (+53), and 45 to 54 (+52); and among high school graduates (+58) and college graduates (+52).
He posted a “good” net satisfaction rating in Metro Manila (+48) and urban areas (+49), as well as among 55 years old and above (+45), non-elementary school graduates (+48), and elementary school graduates (+44).
The SWS used sampling error margins of ±3 percentage points for national percentages and ±6 percentage points for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. (PNA) – bny
