High trust rating inspires DILG to serve better amid COVID-19 crisis

Reacting to the high trust rating recently received by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Secretary Eduardo M. Año says that the Department is inspired to serve the public better amid the continuing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

Año said that a positive public feedback on the DILG’s actions and efforts is a significant push for the Department’s officials and employees, whether working in the field or from home, to work double time as the battle against the virus rages on.

According to the poll conducted by consultancy firm EON Group and research firm Tangere, the DILG received 82.19% trust mark from 5,425 survey respondents using the Tangere app across the country.

The report said people’s trust in the government and its institutions especially during the COVID-19 crisis are influenced by the government’s action and engagement with the people.

“As they say, in times of emergency, good leadership emerges. Kaya’t nagpapasalamat ako at binabati ko ang mga local chief executives na nagpapamalas ng kanilang matapat, mahusay at malasakit sa pagsisilbi sa kanilang constituents ngayong COVID-19 crisis,” he said as he emphasized the critical role of local government units (LGUs) in the fight against the virus.

Año said that the DILG, together with all of its attached agencies, are doing its duties in ensuring that the spirit and letter of Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act are implemented.

“For the country to heal as one, the national government and all LGUs must fully cooperate towards a unified and orderly implementation of the Bayanihan law. When we say Bayanihan, isantabi po muna ang pambabatikos at pamomolitika. Paigtingin ang pagbibigayan at pagtutulungan,” he urged.
