MANILA — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Wednesday commended a janitor at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for bringing to the lost and found section an envelope containing US dollar bills.

A statement from MIAA said Jeffrey Almoguerra found an envelope with a “significant amount of US dollar bills” near the foreign exchange counter at the NAIA Terminal 1 on Tuesday.

The agency, however, could not disclose the amount since this would be asked from a possible claimant.

Almoguerra apparently reported the incident to a security guard, who accompanied him to the lost and found section. The dollar bills were counted and documented in their presence.

Almoguerra will be among the airport workers to be recognized by MIAA in a ceremony in February. Every month, the agency recognizes NAIA employees for their honesty, efforts and accomplishments.

Since Almoguerra is an employee of Philcare Manpower Services, MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal is urging service contractors to recognize their employees for these simple acts or achievements.

“Take care of them because they set good examples,” Monreal said.
