Hospital denies rumors of bodies put in hallways

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III inspected the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City on Sunday.

DOH Secretary Duque has called for a meeting with the management after news of deceased patients put in the hallways of the hospital have begun to spread.

The rumor has been denied by the management of East Avenue Medical Center.

According to EAMC Spokesperson Doctor Dennis Ordoña, it is true that the number of the deceased is on the rise but all corpses are sent to and now lie in the morgue.

The number of unclaimed bodies has reached 20.

Dr. Ordoña has stated they are left with no choice but to temporarily put the bodies in the hallway of the morgue which is a separate facility.

The hospital has also denied reporting 10 deaths per day due to the virus. They added they having no directives to hold or keep reports on the number of deaths due to COVID-19 given its significance in evidence-based decision making.

The EAMC currently has 30 body bags, however, they plead for more donations for reserve and emergency purposes. – Report from Patrick De Jesus
