Did you know that we humankind are also beating a deadline?
Most of us may not be aware but as of now we only have seven years to take necessary steps to hit before the 2030 deadline.
According to the World Wildlife Fund, the world’s leading climate scientist warned the public way back 2018 that we only have 12 years to limit the climate change catastrophe, so urgent and unprecedented changes are needed.
Switch off and spend one hour doing something positive for our environment. Here is the list on how you can play a part on Earth Hour.
1. Encourage someone
Celebrating this significant event could start with you. So never hesitate to encourage someone to join this eco-action and remind them why our planet is worth protecting.
Earth Hour is a great initiative to make people take action especially in the issue of climate change as there are no other homes as planet earth.
2. Spread awareness
Not all of us are aware of this event; promote awareness and active change within the environment.
In the spirit of raising awareness, spread the word of using energy-saving appliances and ecologically responsible choices like recycling, tree planting, and turning off the lights more frequently.
3. Reduce your carbon footprint
Take this opportunity to commit to reducing your carbon footprint. This greatly aids a world that is in need and does not place the burden on future generations.
You can lessen your carbon footprint by changing your habits that you subconsciously don’t realize had a bad effect on the environment. You can start by switching off the lights if not used, planting more trees, and switching to electronic devices to save on paper.
4. Be environmentally conscious
You can show appreciation to our environment by staying constantly aware of what’s going on in nature as well as spreading the word about issues it currently faces.
This could be a great way to tackle the climate crisis, a possible solution, and a chance to heal our broken relationships with nature.
5. Give earth space to breathe
This day is being commemorated by switching off all non-essential light for an hour. It is an hour to show our commitment to our planet earth and let it breathe even for an hour.
This action may not alter everything but it can make a big difference if we unite and take part in lessening the heat we contribute to earth.
6. Reconnect with nature
Reconnecting to nature this earth hour is one way to pay tribute to the earth. May it be an hour to contemplate on how we often take for granted our nature.
You can spend nature alone or with your friends, family, or someone special and appreciate it by walking outside, exploring nearby parks, doing exercise, going camping, and stargazing. – gb
