House ratifies bicameral report postponing BARMM elections until 2025

The House of Representatives on Tuesday (Sep. 21) ratified the bicameral conference committee report on the bill postponing the first regular elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

In a plenary session, the Lower House approved the report on the disagreeing provisions of House Bill 10121 and Senate Bill 2214 that moved the BARMM election from 2022 to 2025.

Under the bill, the President has the authority to appoint officials for the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) members as replacement for those with ending terms. The appointed officials will serve until 2025. (PTV News)/NGS- bny
