The National Housing Authority (NHA), in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines Real Estate Office (AFPREO) and Philippine Sports Commission, facilitated the turnover of the awarded house and lot units to Staff Sgt. Hidilyn Diaz and Sgt. Eumir Felix Marcial on Sept. 2.
The two are among the four Olympic medalists who made history during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Diaz brought home the first Olympic gold medal in Philippine history while Marcial won a bronze medal. As promised by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the two were awarded house and lot units at Cabaluay Place, Sitio Catumbal, Bgy. Cabaluay, Zamboanga City.
“We have been working hand-in-hand with the National Housing Authority and the Philippine Sports Commission to facilitate the awarding of these housing units to the AFP’s and our country’s pride, SSg. Diaz and Sgt. Marcial,” said Lt. Col. Reginald Ephraim Lingan, Housing Management Division chief, AFPREO.
The housing units were presented to the awardees by NHA General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr., who attended the activity through video conferencing.
The turnover ceremony was witnessed by Lingan, who represented Lt. Gen. Erickson Gloria, vice chief of staff and chairperson of the AFP Housing Board; Cdr. Edwin Ello, assistant chief of Unified Command Staff for Personnel, U1 who represented Maj. Gen. Generoso Ponio, acting commander, Western Mindanao Command; Engr. Leanne Villanueva, AFP-NHA program coordinator, who represented Escalada; 2nd District Councilor Bong Atilano; Bgy. Cabaluay Chairperson Basilio Apolinario VII; the immediate families of Diaz and Marcial; and other guests. (AFP) – jlo
