‘Hugpong ng Pagbabago’ accredited as regional political party

MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Monday approved the accreditation of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) as regional political party.

According to Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez, the poll body’s First Division granted the application for accreditation of the party after meeting the requirements.

“The petition for accreditation granted because party have met the requirements,” Jimenez said in an interview.

This means that the HNP is now recognized as a political party in the Davao region.

Earlier, Duterte-Carpio said she applied for her party to be accredited as they want to create a bloc voting for Region 11.

“Thats why we need a regional political party because a lot of members of HNP have different national political party affiliations,” the presidential daughter said in an interview.
