Hunt on for killers of Maguindanao LGU worker in NoCot

MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato – Police are looking for the motorcycle-riding gunmen who shot to death Wednesday a Maguindanao town council secretary in Pikit, North Cotabato.

Chief Inspector Romy Castañares, Pikit town police chief, identified the fatality as Richard Batua Abedin, 45, the Sangguniang Bayan secretary of Pagalungan, Maguindanao, and a  resident of Barangay Dungguan, Pagalungan.

Castañares said Abedin was driving his pick-up truck around 2:30 p.m. along the town plaza area when overtaken and fired upon by two gunmen on board a motorbike.

Abedin died on the spot.

Probers recovered four empty shells of .45-caliber pistol at the crime scene.
