IACT conducts surprise inspection of jeepney terminals

By Meldred Ivy Padilla

The Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (IACT) on Friday (April 8) conducted a random inspection and drug test among jeepney drivers in Pasay City amid the government’s safe travel preparations for the Holy Week.

A number of commuters’ trips got interrupted after IACT officers requested a take-off of passengers in jeepneys with violations including no hand brakes and poor lighting.

“Mas malaking abala po pag nagkaroon po ng aksidente sa kalsada, so inagapan po natin yung mga ganung pangyayari,” IACT team leader Ronald Valisno explained.

The IACT, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said they will continue random inspection and surprise drug tests among public vehicle drivers. – ag
