IATF-EID considering possibility of placing Mega Manila under GCQ

National Task Force CoVID-19 Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. disclosed the IATF-EID has been considering whether Mega Manila will be placed under GCQ as the ECQ is set to end nine days from now.

Galvez said a lot of factors must be considered such as the movement in the number of CoVID-19 cases recorded per day. He added they will seek the guidance of the TWG with experts on pandemic crisis in case the GCQ will replace ECQ,

Galvez assured the NTF and other agencies have been preparing to strictly implement restrictions for the new normal.

He added they are coordinating with local governments to conduct swabbing and massive testing and that a modified ECQ will most probably take place once the testing of LGUs for suspected CoVID-19 cases is accomplished before May 15.

Galvez said it cannot yet be determined how long the crisis will last due to the absence of medicines and vaccine for CoVID-19 but the plan of the government has been laid out to speed up the country’s recovery once the pandemic ends.
