The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) is set to finalize its recommendation on Wednesday regarding the classification of community quarantine in Metro Manila after June 15.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said they are focusing on the whole situation of the country and are thoroughly studying the pattern in the increase of COVID-19 cases which is a factor in their recommendation.
“Lahat ng desisyon ng IATF (All decisions of the IATF), whether or not to graduate to the next regime in the case of Metro Manila, to MGCQ is always dependent on data,” Roque explained.
“Tinitingnan po natin ang case doubling rate, tinitingnan po natin ang critical care capacity. Kapag po ganyang tumataas, siyempre po may posibilidad na hindi po tayo mag-ga-graduate to the next phase (We are looking at the case doubling rate, the critical care capacity. If it increases, there is a possibility we won’t move on to the next phase),” Roque added.
Roque confirmed the next meeting with President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Thursday will be in Davao. He also announced the approval of the recommendation on the strengthening of the local price coordinating council, and the inclusion of a private company as potential collaborator of the country in the COVID-19 vaccine development and clinical trials.
The Philippine Board of Investments will form part of the IATF sub-technical working group on vaccine development.
Meanwhile, he clarified that cockfighting, horse racing, and back riding are still prohibited.
