Iligan City is MECQ starting Sept 1, Metro Manila remains GCQ

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday, August 31, placed Iligan City under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) starting September 1 until September 30, 2020.

The President likewise maintained the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) classification for Metro Manila.

Other areas under GCQ are Bulacan and Batangas for Luzon; and Bacolod City and Tacloban City for the Visayas.

The rest of the Philippines are placed under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

The President likewise named former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Dante Gierran as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

Mr. Gierran thanked President Duterte for this new assignment and vowed to restore people’s confidence to PhilHealth. (From Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque)
