Illegal drugs suspect yields ‘shabu’, grenade

COTABATO CITY — Joint police and military personnel arrested a suspected drug peddler during a law enforcement operation in the Maguindanao town of Buldon on Friday morning.

Senior Insp. Jemar delos Santos, speaking for police in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), identified the suspect as Mangerin Esmael Macot, 36, of Barangay Calaan, Buldon.

Armed with a search warrant, the raiding team, composed of members of the Buldon police force and personnel of the Army’s 37th Infantry Battalion, presented to Macot a search warrant for drug peddling and illegal possession of firearms.

“The suspect did not resist arrest,” delos Santos said over a local radio station.

Seized from Macot were seven sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) with a street value of PHP10,000, and a hand grenade. The suspect is currently detained at the Buldon police station. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
