Illegal recruiter falls to Cavite cops’ entrapment

GENERAL MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – Police arrested on Tuesday a suspected lady illegal recruiter in an entrapment operation in Barangay Maderan here.

Chief Insp. Romulo Dela Rea, acting chief of police, identified the suspect as Kim Carrie Lyn R. Okubo, alias ‘KC’, 24, resident of Barangay (village) Maderan.

Recovered from the suspect’s possession were PHP5,000 marked money.

Dela Rea said police operatives tracked down Okubo after her two alleged victims Dean Brynne Mislang Rubis, 23, of Area K, Barangay San Gabriel and Joana Marie Dela Cruz Laconsay, 25, of Barangay Poblacion 2, reported to the police station of the suspect’s fraudulent activities.

The victims told the police that the suspect demanded from them another payment after they initially paid her a hefty sum for processing fee with the promise of an overseas job.

Dela Rea said the victims told police that they had given the initial amount but the suspect failed her promise for the work abroad.

It was during the suspect’s demand for another payment that the police operatives conducted their entrapment operation and caught the suspect red-handed.

Okubo is now facing large-scale estafa case before the court. (Dennis Abrina/PNA)
