Ilocos MSMEs to sell wares in Manila trade expo anew

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union  — Some 53 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Region 1 (Ilocos Region) will bring their products to Manila this November through the “Rimat ti Amianan” (Treasures of the North) Exposition 2018.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 1 Director Florante O. Leal said this will be held at Robinsons Place, Ermita, Manila from November 4 to 14, 2018.

The 11-day trade expo will feature products, such as food, novelty items, wearables, plants, woodcrafts, furniture, and other genuine local products of MSMEs from Region 1 which is composed of four provinces — Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan and of nine cities — Alaminos, Batac, Candon, Laoag, San Carlos, San Fernando, Urdaneta, Vigan, and Dagupan.

Also, there will be gifts and holiday decors in time for the holiday season.

Leal said this is the second time for the DTI to bring Rimat Ti Amianan Trade Fair in Metro Manila. In 1993, it was held at Hotel Nikko in Makati City.

Rimat ti Amianan (Treasures of the North) Expo, the annual Trade Fair of DTI-Region 1, is now on its 17th year. It aims to promote the “best of the best” products of homegrown entrepreneurs.

Leal said these are the products developed through the assistance of DTI under various programs, such as the OTOP (one-town-one-product) Next Gen, Kapatid Mentor Me, and the Shared Service Facility.

The trade fair targets to sustain developmental and promotional activities and bring key buyers and potential investors in one area, helping the local MSMEs expand the reach of their products. (Liwayway Yparraguirre/PNA)
