Ilocos Norte carabao center re-certified for ISO

LAOAG CITY — The Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) at the Mariano Marcos State University (PCC-MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte has been certified ISO 9001 for the third time, signifying its compliance with the world’s leading quality management system standard.

The PPC is among the latest government organizations in the province to have passed a re-certification audit by TUV SUD Philippines, an internationally-accredited independent product-testing services provider.

“To God be the glory,” PCC Director Grace Recta said in excitement after the successful conduct of the fifth surveillance transition audit Monday, which showed that PCC satisfactorily complied with all standard requirements.

Recta said this is the third time they got a certification and the center now holds the distinction of being the first regional center of the PCC to have been ISO-certified since 2011.

Auditor Eunice Sol Pimentel-Diamante recommended that PCC be issued a certification ISO 9001:2015.

Recta, in an interview on Tuesday, assured the PCC would continue its commitment to deliver quality products and services for customers in the Ilocos region, including nearby provinces.

Among PCC’s best practices is its continuing Carabao Development Program, particularly in addressing concerns related to genetic improvement, carabao-based enterprise development, and research and development.

An organization that is certified ISO (International Organization for Standardization) conforms to the quality management principles of leadership, involvement of people, factual approach to decision-making, mutually beneficial supplier relationship, process approach, customer focus, continual improvement, and system approach to management. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
