Ilocos Norte honors outstanding teachers

LAOAG CITY — Around 4,000 teachers from the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte on Saturday gathered at the Laoag City Centennial Arena for a province-wide celebration dedicated to them.

The Teacher’s Day event, sponsored by the Provincial Federation of Parents-Teachers Association and the local government units of Ilocos Norte, saw  eight teachers and school heads from different parts of the province awarded for their leadership, innovativeness and active involvement in their communities during the celebration.

Marietta Yap, Principal IV of Sarrat National High School; Lilia Taciana Pascual, School Principal I of the Bacarra Special Education Center and Elrey Limbaoan, Head Teacher III of Marcos Escoda Elementary School were named outstanding school heads.

For the outstanding teacher category, Master Teacher II Rajah Adib Reyes of the Dingras National High School won out of the 80 nominees.

Honorable mention went to Kennedy Origenes, Teacher III of Banna Central Elementary School; Jerry Crisologo Jr., Teacher III of Dilavo Elementary School-Pasuquin District; Markelvin Guzman, Teacher III of the Florentino Camaquin Integrated School; and Jennifer Balisacan, Master Teacher I of the Sarrat National High School.

Plaques and cash incentives were awarded to the outstanding educators.

Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Eugenio Angelo Marcos Barba lauded the hardworking teachers of the province as he led the awarding ceremony. (PNA)
