Ilocos Norte mayor acquitted of administrative charge

LAOAG CITY — The local chief executive of Solsona town in Ilocos Norte has been acquitted of an administrative charge filed against him in 2017.

Solsona Mayor Alex Calucag on Tuesday heave a sigh of relief as he got hold of a copy of his case dismissal from the Office of the Ombudsman.

Signed by Maricel G. Quilates, Graft Investigation and Prosecution Officer III of the Office of the Ombudsman dated October 17, 2018, the complaint against Calucag has been dismissed for lack of merit. The case was supposedly in violation of Section 3 of Republic Act No. 3019, grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct and violation of Section 4 of Republic Act No. 6713.

The case was filed against him by then former Solsona town mayor Bertha Luz de Lara et. al when he allegedly awarded the purchase of medicines to a non-compliant bidder in 2017.
