Ilocos Norte town’s persons in crisis get P1-M aid from DSWD

LAOAG CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has released PHP1 million for persons in crisis situations in Piddig town in Ilocos Norte province.

“These are the things that we are working on since the beginning to help our constituents, especially the needy,” said Mayor Georgina Guillen, who spearheaded the distribution of financial aid to beneficiaries at the Municipal Hall on Wednesday.

In Piddig, a total of 82 beneficiaries availed of the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program, which is designed to help them cope with the death of an immediate family member, loss of job, natural or man-made disasters, a medical problem, or other crises.

The AICS is part of the department’s Protective Services Program (PSP), which offers various types of assistance to those in need.

PSP’s qualified beneficiaries from the informal sector and other poor, marginalized, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals are given medical, education, burial, and transportation assistance. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
