The modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Ilocos Norte has been extended until Sept. 30, Malacañang announced Tuesday (Sept. 7).
The announcement followed the approval of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to the quarantine escalation appeal of the provincial government under Resolution No. 136-G.
On Sept. 7, the national government said Ilocos Norte’s quarantine classification will be deescalated to general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
The province has recorded 27 additional COVID-19 cases on Sept. 6, bringing its total active case count to 2,498. Ilocos Norte has 16,039 total cases, 13,311 recoveries, and 230 deaths.
Meanwhile, 182,546 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered and 75,005 individuals have completed their doses in the province as of Aug. 30. – AG-rir
