MANILA — Even if severe Tropical Storm Inday (international name Ampil) already left the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday morning, it continues to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will cause rains over Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon and a low-pressure area will bring intermittent moderate to heavy monsoon rains over Ilocos, the Cordillera region, Zambales, and Bataan; and scattered light to moderate, with occasional heavy rains, over Metro Manila, Calabarzon and the rest of central Luzon likely until Sunday.

The LPA was last eyed at 285 km. west of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

The Bicol region, Mimaropa, Visayas and Mindanao, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms “due to localized thunderstorms.”

Meanwhile, rough to very rough winds will blow over the western section of northern and central Luzon. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

“Sea travel remains risky over the western seaboard of northern and central Luzon due to the southwest monsoon,” noted PAGASA.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong with moderate to rough seas, the bureau added. (PNA)
