Indian nabbed in Nueva Vizcaya buy-bust op

TUGUEGARAO CITY — An Indian national was arrested by joint operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a drug buy-bust operation in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on Tuesday.

Supt. Chevalier Iringan, Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2) information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Rahman Singh, 26, single, businessman, a native of Punjab, India and currently residing at P-2, Barangay Lingay, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. He is a high value target of PDEA.

Iringan said at about 11:55 a.m. of June 26, 2018, joint operatives of PDEA-Nueva Vizcaya Special Enforcement Team and Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of Solano police station, in coordination with Bayombong Police Station, conducted a buy-bust operation in the area.

The suspect was caught in the act of selling one plastic transparent heat-sealed sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” to a police poseur-buyer.

Also seized from the suspect were five transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, one PHP500 marked bill, one ID jacket, one blue disposable lighter, one unit Samsung mobile phone and one unit Yamaha Mio Soul 125 single motorcycle without plate number.

A case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is now being prepared for filing in court against the suspect.

“The arrest of Singh is considered a major operational accomplishment on drugs. Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize that our campaign against illegal drugs will not choose who should be arrested, whoever they are, whether big-time or small-time, they are all held responsible for their actions according to the law,” Iringan said. (Simeon Dilan/PNA)
