LUBAO, Pampanga—The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has provided various livelihood assistance to the marginalized sectors in this town.
The beneficiaries of PHP1.2 million worth of livelihood assistance distributed here Wednesday were opersons with disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolk, farmers, and ambulant vendors.
Raquel Lugtu, Lubao Public Employment Services Office (PESO) manager, said 40 “negokarts” (livelihood carts) were given to selected ambulant vendors; 10 motorboats to the fisherfolk-beneficiaries from Barangay Sta. Tereza 2; one unit rice reaper was awarded to farm workers of Barangay Sta. Rita; and five “sari-sari” store packages to PWDs.
Lugtu said the local government unit of Lubao under the leadership of Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab, disbursed PHP201,000 as startup capital for the beneficiaries.
“The LGU also sponsored the beneficiaries’ entrepreneurial development training seminar, shirts and other expenses,” she said.
Lugtu also said that Mayor Cayabyab likewise authorized the release of another PHP90,000 for additional five “negokart” units with corresponding startup capitals.
Present during the distribution were Vice Mayor Robertito Diaz, Councilors Jay Montemayor, Emmanuel Santos and Gonzalo Tungul, Municipal Administrator Elizalde Bernal, DOLE-Pampanga chief labor employment officer Arlene N. Tolentino, and Director Alex V. Inza-Cruz, chief for Technical Support and Services, DOLE-Region 3 (Central Luzon).
