Integrated State Media to be ‘vanguards of truth’ in 2025 midterm polls — PCO Sec. Ruiz

The Integrated State Media (ISM), led by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), is all-set to provide comprehensive coverage of the 2025 midterm elections on May 12.

PCO Sec. Jay Ruiz on Saturday met with the heads of People’s Television Network (PTV), Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation (IBC), Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Philippine News Agency (PNA), and other state media staff at the PTV central office in Quezon City for the final preparations on the ISM’s “Hatol ng Bayan 2025” midterm polls coverage.

During the technical dry-run, Ruiz said the state media is one with the entire communications sector of the country in ensuring reliable delivery of credible information to the public.

“Nandito po ang Integrated State Media para alamin ang katotohanan, dito—ito po ang sandigan ng katotohanan. We will be the vanguards of truth sa panahon ng eleksiyon, ’yan po ang alay natin sa sambayanan,” the Communications chief said.

Ruiz noted the state media’s collaboration with the Philippine National Police and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to combat fake news that may affect the polls.

This is in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure peaceful, orderly, and credible national and local elections in the country.

Ruiz assured that the public will be able to get truthful information from the state media as all of its attached agencies as well as regional arms will provide timely news updates—live from different areas across the country and through all of its social media platforms.

The “Hatol ng Bayan 2025” coverage is a collaborative effort between state media and will be available on television, radio, and digital platforms of PTV, Radyo Pilipinas Radyo Publiko, PIA, PNA, and IBC beginning Monday at 5:00 a.m. until Tuesday at 2:00 a.m. (with report from Denisse Osorio / PTV News)
