Ipo Dam releases water; nearby towns alerted

By Christine Fabro

The Ipo Dam Management in Norzagaray, Bulacan conducted a spilling operation at 12:29 p.m. today (July 25) due to the high water level in the dam, following heavy rainfall.

The approximate discharge was 40.8 cubic meters.

As of 12:00 p.m. today, the water level in Ipo Dam was at 101.30 meters, which is above the dam’s normal high water level of 101 meters.

In an advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the water level of Ipo Dam is still expected to rise due to heavy rainfall induced by the habagat monsoon.

Residents living along low-lying areas in Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel, Calumpit, Paombong, and Hagonoy were alerted about a possible increase in the water level downstream. – jlo
