Isko Moreno forms special enforcement squad vs botcha, hot meat

Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has ordered the creation of a special enforcement squad in line with the local government’s campaign against “botcha” and hot meat.

In a mission order, Domagoso mandated the Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) Special Enforcement Squad to conduct intensified routine and strike operations in the nation’s capital.

The enforcement squad is directed to check and verify establishments engaged in food trade to ensure that their products have undergone proper inspection, quality control procedures by authorized personnel.

“You are further directed to effect the seizure, confiscation, examination, disposition and disposal of merchandise found to be illegal, and recommend the filing of appropriate cases for prosecution before the proper court in the City of Manila,” Domagoso said.

With the newly-created squad, Domagoso said the local government would be able to “sustain a continuing drive” against the illegal sale, manufacturing, processing and distribution of meat products.

These include pork products, beef products, poultry products, fish and aquatic products, and milk and dairy products, among others.

The Mayor named veterinarian Dr. Nicanor Santos Jr. as the chief of the VIB Special Enforcement Squad.
