Isolated rain showers continue to prevail across PH

MANILA – Most parts of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers, with two weather systems expected to bring rains over parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said Wednesday, Feb. 16.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers will dampen Aurora and the northern portion of Quezon because of the shear line affecting the eastern section of Central Luzon.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring light rains over the Cagayan Valley and isolated light rains over the Cordillera and Ilocos regions, and the rest of central Luzon.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies or localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over northern Luzon, and the eastern section of central Luzon, southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Due to the effects of the northeast monsoon, strong to gale-force winds are forecast over the northern and western seaboards of northern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
