MANILA – Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers will prevail over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said Monday, Jan. 31.

“Currently, there is no weather disturbance. The frontal system will bring rains, especially over central Luzon,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Grace Castañeda said.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are forecast over the provinces of Aurora and Quezon and the Bicol Region.

Castañeda said residents of these areas must take precautions against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

The northeast monsoon or amihan will cause light rains over Cagayan Valley, and isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern and central Luzon.

Strong to gale-force winds will be experienced over the seaboards of northern Luzon. Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) – bny
