Isolated rains across PH due to shear line

By Ma. Cristina Arayata / Philippine News Agency

Most parts of the country will experience isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms, the weather bureau said on Monday (Dec. 20).

In its 4:00 a.m. weather forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the shear line will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley and Aurora.

The shear line will also bring light to moderate, with at times heavy, rains over Isabela, Aurora, and northern Quezon including Polillo Island in the next 24 hours.

Isolated to scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas susceptible to these hazards.

Isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon will prevail over Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will be experienced over Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the eastern seaboards of northern and central Luzon, western seaboard of northern Luzon, and the western and eastern seaboards of southern Luzon.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft are advised not to venture out to sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA) – jlo
