JBC sets public interviews for SC aspirants

MANILA — The Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) has released the schedule of the public panel interview of hopefuls vying for a Supreme Court (SC) post, to be vacated by Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo who will compulsorily retire on July 29.

The first batch, slated at 9 a.m. consists of Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Rodil V. Zalameda and international law expert Jeremy Benigno I. Gatdula.

Scheduled at 2 p.m. are CA justices Pablito A. Perez and Maria Filomena D. Singh.

On June 25, scheduled in the morning for interview are CA Associate Justice Elihu A. Ybañez and Bureau of Internal Revenue Deputy Commissioner Lanee S. Cui-David followed in the afternoon by CA Associate Justices Oscar V. Badelles, Manuel M. Barrios, Ramon M. Bato Jr. Apolinario D. Bruselas Jr., Ramon Cruz and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje-Tang.

On the third and final day on June 26, scheduled in the morning are CA magistrates Stephen C. Cruz, Eduardo B. Peralta Jr., Japar B. Dimaampao, Ramon R. Garcia, Jhosep Y. Lopez and Mario V. Lopez.

Scheduled in the afternoon are Sandiganbayan Justice Efren N. Dela Cruz, Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez, CA Associate Justice Edgardo Delos Santos, Sandiganbayan Associate justice Alex I. Quiroz, CA Associate Justice Ricardo R. Rosario and former law school dean Cesar I. Villanueva.

The public may submit a sworn complaint, report or opposition against any of the aforesaid candidates by personal delivery or by mail in ten legible copies to the JBC, by fax at tel. no. (02)552-9607 or by e-mail to [email protected] and [email protected] not later than 4:30 p.m. on June 11.
