‘Jolina’ weakens; heavy rains expected over PH Saturday

MANILA — Tropical Storm Jolina has slightly weakened, having maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of 120 kph, the state weather bureau, PAGASA, said Saturday morning.

‘Jolina’ was last eyed in the vicinity of Santiago, Isabela and is forecasted to move west-northwest at 20 kph.

Tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) 2 has been raised over Isabela, Quirino, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Abra, La Union and Nueva Vizcaya, while TCWS 1 has been raised over Aurora, Cagayan, Apayao, Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan.

Stormy weather will prevail over these areas, according to PAGASA.

The bureau also warned that monsoon rains, which may trigger flash floods and landslides, may be experienced over Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and possible occasional heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning due to thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated light to occasionally heavy rains, gusty winds and lightning will prevail over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds blowing from southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon, and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from south to southwest with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
