‘KaBayanihan’ youth challenge launched to promote vaccination among youth

The Department of Health (DOH) launched on Wednesday, Nov. 30, the #KaBayanihan Youth Challenge for COVID-19 to promote youth participation in the government’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

The program was launched through a partnership of UNICEF Philippines, National Youth Commission (NYC), and the Youth Peer Education Network (PEER) to engage youth groups 

To work with local governments and other communities to bring vaccination services closer to people.

“The pandemic continues to impress upon us the significance of collective action and active participation, especially in our efforts to transition to the new normal and attain Universal Health Care,” DOH Officer-in-Charge USec. Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

“The impact of what we do now will be felt not just by us, but by future generations to come. Hence, there are no better people to engage than the vey ones who stand to feel the impact of today’s collective action,” she added.

Youth organizations will kick start the activities to support DOH’s Bakunahang Bayan from Dec. 5 to 7, to increase booster uptake and vaccination coverage among persons ages 5 to 11.

Vergeire expressed gratitude to all the youth volunteers for participating in the government’s program. She is also confident that they will “successfully ensure better health outcomes for all” under the said program. -ag
