Kamara, posibleng maghain ng contempt kay Duque

Ikinadismaya ng ilang kongresista ang hindi pagdalo ni Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III sa dalawang magkasunod na pagdinig sa Kamara.

Ito ay kaugnay ng kwestyonableng guidelines at mga polisiya ng DOH pati na ng Food and Drug Administration (FDA) lalo na sa panahon ngayon ng pandemya.

Nagbabala ang ilang mga kongresista na ipapa-contempt nila si Duque kung hindi pa rin ito dadalo sa susunod na pagdinig ng House committee on good government and public accountability.

Sinang-ayunan ng Kumite ang paghahain ng mosyon ni AnaKalusugan Representative Mike Defensor nitong Lunes (Mayo 17), matapos ang muling pagliban ni Duque sa pagdinig.

Ito ang ikalawang beses na nagpadala si Duque ng representante bilang kanyang kahalili sa pagsagot sa mga katanungang inihain ng mga mambabatas.

Ani Defensor, “I move that we write an official letter to the DOH, particularly Secretary Duque, so that we can, in the next hearing, declare in contempt if there will be [absence] again.”

“I don’t want to say the committee is being snubbed, but seemingly, this is what is happening,” dagdag nito.
