The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) unveiled on Monday, June 27, the Lagusnilad bas relief as part of the “upgrading” of the physical state of the City of Manila.

The ceremony was attended by outgoing Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, NCCA Chief Administrative Officer Susan Dayao, Visual Artist Egai Talusan Fernandez, members of Gerilya, representatives from NCCA Special Projects Unit, and representatives from Escuella Teller de Filipinas.

The bas relief sculpture is a part of the Masigasig na Maynila mural which depicts various workers from the different sectors of the society.

Gerilya from the UP College of Fine Arts was assigned to execute the bas relief sculpture.

The project of the local government of Manila in putting back to life the refurbished Manila sites started in 2019 through installing public arts which highlight the rich history and culture of the Philippines.  – ag
