Lanao Sur cops hunt killers of 2 farmers

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao – Police are hot on the trail of armed men who killed two farmers in an ambush on Sunday night in Pualas, Lanao del Sur.

Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares, police director for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, identified the victims as Jabber Tanog, 37 and Abdul Saripada, 31, both of Barangay Notong, Pualas.

Citing report from the town police office, Mijares said the slain victims and Aladin Abdulla, all farmers and armed, were walking in Barangay Yaran on their way to Barangay Notong at around 8:30 p.m. when fired upon by gunmen, triggering a shootout.

Abdulla managed to escape unharmed.

The gunmen were led by a certain Saidamen Balindong, Mijares said, quoting a police report. Mijares believes a long-standing “rido” (family feud) was the motive behind the ambush. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
