COTABATO CITY — The Lanao del Sur Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) is currently undergoing audit to determine its performance for this year.

The evaluation conference was held Tuesday at the social hall of the Lanao del Sur provincial capitol in Marawi City.

Current PPOC programs are complementing the rebuilding efforts for Marawi City as it slowly rises from the devastation of the siege in 2017.

McMillan Lucman, Lanao del Sur provincial director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), has hinted that the audit performance shows favorable results for the province.

Lanao del Sur Governor Soraya Adiong said the audit was in compliance with the Memorandum Circular from the DILG central office that directs municipal, city and provincial peace and order councils to undergo periodic performance audits to determine efficiency.

Preventing violent extremism and contributing more to the national government’s peace initiatives in the province are among the focus of PPOC.

“The PPOC continues to focus more on programs complementing normalization efforts for conflict-affected areas, especially Marawi City,” Adiong said in a statement.

The council members also vowed to continue supporting government programs meant to address violent religious extremism.
