Laoag City lawyer survives gun attack

LAOAG CITY – Unidentified gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle shot and critically wounded on Saturday night a former legal officer of the provincial government of Ilocos Norte.

Lawyer Jason Bader Perera , 36, single, was in front of his law firm along J. P. Rizal St. this city when shot several times at about 6:40 p.m.

Perera is undergoing treatment at the Gov. Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital.

Chief Insp. Relly Layug, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Police Public Information Office, said recovered at the crime scene were two fired cartridges for .45-caliber pistol and one metal jacket fragment, which will be subjected to ballistic and cross-matching examination.

As of this posting, a special investigation task group has been formed to determine the motive of the shooting and identify the suspects.

Laoag City police investigators likewise secured some CCTV footages installed near the crime incident which may help in identifying the suspects.(Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
