Laoag City now under localized MECQ

The City of Laoag has been placed under localized modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27 due to increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Based on Executive Order No. 104-20, movement is limited to work and accessing of basic goods, while persons under 18 years old and above 59 years-old and those with comorbidity and health risks are required to stay home unless they are dealing with essential activities.

A 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew and liquor ban was also imposed, but essential workers and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) required to work during the period are exempted from the curfew.

Public transportation going in or out of the city was also suspended, while intra-city transportation is limited to one passenger per tricycle, two passengers per taxi, and a maximum of 50 percent capacity for jeepneys.

Company shuttle and private vehicles used by APORs are allowed and the utilization of non-motorized transportation such as bicycles is “strongly encouraged.” Those who are passing through the city are advised to use the Bypass Road.

Non-essential gatherings are prohibited and religious gatherings are “limited to not more than five persons.”

Some industries including media establishments without PCOO accreditation and courier services are permitted to operate in full capacity, while some establishments including those in legal and accounting services are only authorized to work at 50 percent capacity.

Some hotel and accommodation facilities, bars, cockpits, gyms, selected personal care services are not allowed to operate. – PTV News
