Lawmakers, economic managers meet for more COVID-19 measures

High officials of the House of Representatives (HoR) and Senate met with the Duterte administration’s economic managers on Saturday to discuss and strengthen measures against the COVID-19 crisis.

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go bared they plan to pass a bill that will provide funds for the ongoing COVID-19 fight, particularly on healthcare needs and cash assistance for affected Filipinos.

Meanwhile, the two chambers of the Congress have set two special sessions on Monday at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the matter anew.

Aside from Sen. Go, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez, Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado, and other high officials from the legislative and executive branches of the government have attended the meeting. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
